SUBJECTS

Language

At My Escuela, our environment is designed to help the young student achieve language learning through an established pace that they can feel comfortable with. We introduce letters as sounds, and then help the child to recognize these sounds through objects and pictures. The sounds are classified into words, and eventually, the words become script. The language branches of our classrooms are filled with pre-writing and language tools such as puzzles, objects, and writing instruments. After the child masters different sounds, they practice script not just on paper but, through a variety of different mediums in both languages. Our preschool tailors to each child’s developmental abilities.

Math

Math is all around us. Our abilities to count, compute, and to use numerical relationships are amongst the most significant human achievements. Arithmetic deals with shapes, symbols, space, numbers, and their relationships to one another. In the eyes of a child, math is represented by simple examples. These examples are taught at My Escuela, in a fun and exciting manner. The symbolism of math in different games, stories, and objects that they play with daily are emphasized, and used to assist the child in mathematical development. Our teaching of mathematics at My Escuela starts from understanding very simple concepts and moves forward to those that are more complex. We foster this learning through our various teacher-led activities.

Science

Teaching a child science material during their preschool years can help to build a lifelong interest in the subject. Additionally, early science experiences can set a child up for school success by fostering positive attitudes toward learning. My Escuela is proud of our project-based science program. Throughout, kids will enthusiastically understand the different facets of our program. Regardless of its size, our children will always partake in hands-on science activity. The foundational science skills that a preschool teacher translates to a young child can help that student think critically, problem solve, and better understand the world around them. Example concepts like learning about animals, plants, weather, and the physical world, are important components to an early science education that can benefit the child later in life.

Sensorial Learning

Sensorial learning emphasizes and focuses on the child’s senses. The purpose and aim of teaching this to our young scholars is to help them acquire clear and conscious information about their senses. Using this information, they will be taught how to classify them to the rest of their environment. My Escuela works with blocks, Legos, sound, objects, color matching, feeling of texture, size classification, and more. This helps children develop in the areas of independence, coordination, concentration, and organization much better in their life. The utilization of senses is essential.

Music & Movement

Music and movement are important in the preschool span of a child’s life, as they represent intellectual, auditory, sensory, verbal, and motor development. Learning through these activities are fundamental steps in the growing child. Those who learn through music and movement early on can interact socially and emotionally better with those around them. My Escuela emphasizes four important areas that help a child understand this; Security, Learning, Concentration, and Body Expression. My Escuela will help achieve this by assuring the development of our children as they learn music and movement, which will be incorporated in our daily lessons.

Art

Art is an essential subject here at My Escuela. It is viewed in many different ways. Some people’s image of this subject can very much differentiate from one of a young child’s. In the eyes of the child, art is not only a language, but it is also a form of free expression. Art is a great tool to help sharpen fine motor and gross motor skills. At My Escuela, we encourage the children to become expressive with graphic arts, through different elements that they can use such as; paint, sand, water, chalk, clay, markers, and much more. Art fosters the creativity and imagination that will be a big part of their development.

Spanish

Children learn first by listening, then by repeating, and speaking. As they develop, they learn the vocabulary, reading, and grammar. An early introduction of a foreign language to your child is ideal. Here at My Escuela, children are exposed to the Spanish language and its cultures at a young age through literacy, songs, pictures, and objects. This foundation motivates children to feel natural growing up in a world where a variety of languages and cultures connect and take place on a daily basis.

At my Escuela, all teachers are bilingual speakers. We will be talking during the day in both Spanish and English.

Children will learn Spanish in fun filled days through the following activities:

  • Circle time
  • Music/Movement
  • Art
  • Curriculum
  • Snack Time
  • Story Time
  • Free Play Time
